My next birding excursion out of London today was a drive to RSPB Minsmere, near Saxmundham in Suffolk. Minsmere has many different landscapes with a mix of heathland, woodland, reedbeds, dunes and beach. The reserve sits in the shadow of the adjacent Sizewell nuclear power station.
The list of birds seen, which reflects the mix of environments mentioned above, included Black-headed Gull, European Herring Gull, Sandwich Tern, Little Tern, Common Tern, Barnacle Goose, Greylag Goose, Common Moorhen, Great Crested Grebe, Common Pochard, Pied Avocet, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Black-tailed Godwit, Spotted Redshank, Northern Lapwing, Little Egret, Western Jackdaw, Dunnock, Barn Swallow, Common Reed Bunting, Sedge Warbler, European Robin and Eurasian Wren.
